The Post Script- Three Pretoria residents filed legal complaints against Zanzou nightclub security team for subjecting them to abuse including torture and public undressing and sexual assault when they failed to pay their bill. The disturbing event has caused mass public frustration because videos of its occurrence have circulated on social media platforms.
The security personnel at Zanzou nightclub inflicted upon victims cruel positions that amounted to inhumane and degrading treatments. People demand swift action against both the nightclub itself and its assault perpetrators after the reported assault took place.
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development delivered a firm condemnation of the event because it violated human rights at an extreme level. The Department expressed major concerns regarding the disastrous violence showcased in available videos through a Monday announcement while demanding rapid legal consequences against the perpetrators.
The statement denounced this horror as it violates the core human rights which the Republic of South Africa Constitution protects through its principles of dignity equality and rule of law.According to the department the Constitution involves two crucial sections which state all persons maintain the right to dignity protection in Section 10 and enjoy full security and freedom from violence and torture along with cruel inhuman degrading treatment in Section 12.
The law does not allow anyone or any group to become judge and jury through personal actions. The department declared that the full strength of the law must strike down such barbaric human rights violations which were shown in the videos since maintaining justice and human rights standards remain unambiguous.Law enforcement agencies must investigate the issue at high speed to perform justice. Zanzou nightclub should be shut down until investigators complete a full investigation according to department demands.
South African businesses must respect human rights according to our constitutional framework when they conduct operations within the nation. Such establishments which enable or tolerate dangerous crimes will receive severe consequences according to the department’s directive.
