Nasreddine Nabi describes Kaizer Chiefs' 4-1 loss to SuperSport United as "extremely painful" after his team's disappointing performance at FNB Stadium.
The Post Script- Nasreddine Nabi, coach of Kaizer Chiefs, described Wednesday’s Betway Premiership 4-1 loss to SuperSport United at FNB Stadium as extremely painful. SuperSport United easily overcame Chiefs, scoring two goals in each half to beat Amakhosi in the league for the first time since the 2011/12 season.
Samir Nurkovic and Cristian Saile, both former Chiefs players, scored goals for SuperSport but politely refrained from celebrating against their old team. Hunt’s team won for the seventh time this season, thanks to two goals in the second half from Man of the Match Siphesihle Ndlovu and Zambian winger Ghampani Lungu.
Nabi stated on SuperSport TV after the game, “It was a very painful loss, a game we missed. There are excuses, of course, but I won’t offer any.” He shared that after an outstanding Nedbank Cup encounter over the weekend, they had only two days to give the players time to recover.
“Though these are justifications, as I mentioned earlier, we cannot offer them,” stated Nabi. After Gaston Sirino’s red card, Chiefs were down a man in the second half, giving SuperSport the advantage to score goals.
“The players’ bodies weren’t reacting, and then everything collapsed like a house of cards,” Nabi continued. “We conceded in the third minute, and twenty minutes later, Kaizer Chiefs still hadn’t responded.”
“As I said, nothing goes smoothly when the body isn’t functioning properly. All three of the first goals were obvious. Even with big teams, it does happen. You shouldn’t evaluate the squad based only on their performance today,” said Nabi.
SuperSport’s last league victory occurred in December 2024 against Magesi, and this was their first in 2025.
