Nolusindiso Booi is on the brink of history. This Saturday, when the Springbok Women face Spain in Elche, the seasoned lock will become the first South African woman to earn 50 Test caps — a milestone 15 years in the making since her debut against Kazakhstan in 2010.
Booi, already the team’s most capped player, will lead an experienced side named by performance coach Swys de Bruin. Her achievement stands as a powerful symbol of resilience, leadership, and dedication — traits De Bruin says inspire everyone in the women’s rugby space.
De Bruin is experimenting with new midfield options, resting Zintle Mpupha, while Roos and Malinga are expected to spark counter-attacks with their pace and vision.
The bench includes Luchell Hanekom, returning from injury, and potential debutant Alicia Willemse. If fielded, Willemse will become Springbok Women’s player #175 — a proud moment for the scrumhalf after a strong Sevens season.
With training done and spirits high, the team is focused solely on Saturday’s clash — and celebrating a legend in the making.
