Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi warned departments officials against any misconduct, she spoke at the at the 17th Biennial Conference of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) in Cape Town.
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has dismissed 27 employees due to various offenses, including fraud and corruption, as part of its commitment to clean governance. The dismissals followed complaints from the public, which prompted the department to investigate and take action.
According to Kgalalelo Masibi, DOJ spokesperson, the department received complaints about misconduct and followed due procedures to investigate the matter. Experts from the labor relations department were involved in the investigation, which led to the dismissals. Masibi noted that the process took a considerable amount of time.
Most complaints involved the Magistrate’s Court and Master’s Office. Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, welcomed the dismissals and warned officials that misconduct wouldn’t be tolerated. She emphasized zero tolerance for theft, corruption, and fraud, stating that such actions would result in dismissal.
In fact, the Department of Justice has been actively addressing labor relations matters, with 223 cases recorded in the 2024/25 financial year. Of these, 164 matters have been finalized, resulting in 54 dismissals, 41 suspensions, and various disciplinary sanctions. This crackdown aims to root out misconduct and ensure a clean, capable, and ethical public administration.
