(The Post Script)- South African award-winning actor Presley Chweneyagae, widely recognized for his role as ‘Cobra’ in “The River”, has passed away at only forty years old. The Actor’s Agency, Moonyeenn Lee & Associates (MLA) took to Instagram a statement announcing the death of the ‘beloved actor’ in the early hours of May 27th.
The talented actor, born in Mafikeng, gained international recognition for his role in the Oscar-winning crime and thriller film “Tsotsi”. From there, Chweneyagae’s career took off, and he became one of the country’s most distinguished film and television figures.
Chweneyagae’s roles in “Tsotsi” and “The River” touched South African hearts so much so that he received two Golden Awards for Best Actor, both in the Feature Film and Telenovela categories, amongst many other accolades.
His iconic portrayal of the humorous and charismatic ‘Cobra’ in the award-winning telenovela won the audience’s hearts over so deeply that a thirteen-episode spin-off titled “Cobrizi” was born.
Fans and colleagues have been left shocked by the actor’s sudden passing as they share their heartfelt condolences on social media.
